Cavity
This series of ceramic sculptures is a quiet yet forceful response to the violence of rape and the silencing of survivors. Each piece is formed from fragility—ceramic, a medium that can break with pressure—echoing the bodily and emotional vulnerability of women who have endured such trauma.
The title Cavity speaks to absence: of safety, of voice, of choice. But these works are not only about what’s been taken. They are also about what remains—the raw imprint of survival, the silent scream hardened into form, the stories that refuse to be buried. I do not attempt to illustrate violence. Instead, I shape grief, shame, rage, and the complex aftermath into physical form. These sculptures carry wounds not always visible, but deeply felt—in the curves, cracks, and quiet spaces of the clay. This work is personal. It is political. It is a space where pain is seen—and survival, though fractured, still stands.
